Frank Backgammon is the alias used by the singer and guitarist of The Sammies, an indie-rock band from Charlotte, North Carolina. Other band members include Backgammon's brother, who uses the nickname Donnie Yale, who plays the drums, Gymmy Thunderbird on the bass, and Bobby Freedom, the guitar man who stands for the band's original guitarist Murphy Upshaw. All of The Sammies' members are known for their stage names, and their real names are not published anywhere on the web.
In his blog, Frank's Big Ear, Backgammon has also recommended on his favorite new music including Shine River and The Spalding Grays, both coming from Charlotte, North Carolina, as Backgammon and his band members. Backgammon also enjoyed listening to the latest albums by Julian Casablancas, The Soft Pack and the Empire of the Sun.

Frank Backgammon, The Sammies' band leader has reported in his blog about his returning from his summer vacation and about the band's forthcoming shows. Backgammon has spent the last summer separated from the other band members, for the first time in several years, according to his report.
