Rod Calvin, the President and Chairman of the US Backgammon Federation, 2009 Atlanta Spring Backgammon Classic, Carolina Invitational and Ohio Masters runner up, and graduate of Columbia and Fordham Universities, might be involved in the death of Shele Danishefsky Covlin, his wealthy ex wife, reports the New York Post. Ms. Danishefsky was found dead in her bathtub on New Year's Eve by daughter from her three years marriage to Calvin.
At first, the cops who arrived to scene concluded fall and drown as the cause of the death, and her orthodox Jewish family refused to autopsy the body. Four months after her burial, Shele Danishefsky's body was exhumed, and the post mortem autopsy was changed from "tragic slip" in the bathtub to "neck compression". Danishefsky, who had served as an headquarter at UBS AG, was set to meet with her lawyer regarding her will and custody of the separated couple two children, yet the appointment, scheduled for the day after her death, was somehow removed from her blackberry after her death.
The case is now investigated by the Manhattan DA's Office. Although it might look as if Rod Calvin, a financial executive himself (on top of his involvement in the backgammon world), may have the motive for bashing his wife's head in the bath tub a day before his removal from her will, no charges have been filed against him for the moment.
