The backgammon boards, along with the rest of Lucille Ball’s remains, has been supervised by Susie Morton, who has married to Ball’s second husband in 1996. According to Doug Norwine, the Director of Music & Entertainment Auctions at Heritage, “Susie has lived with these relics of Lucy and Gary’s life for more than 10 years out of respect for her late husband and out of respect for Lucy’s amazing legacy. Now she’s ready to part with these treasures as she remodels her house to make it completely her own.”
Lucille Ball’s portable backgammon sets primary bid is $500 and they are estimated to be sold for at least $1,000. The leather set, probably used by her for social backgammon games, is opened for $1,000 and expected to be sold for over $2,000. The live auction will take place on July 17, 2010.
