Entry fees are priced at $10, with most of it returned to the players in prizes. Backgammon beginners will enjoy a free entry and free lessons from live tournaments veterans. The newbies will be able to practice their new acquired knowledge in the junior tournaments that will be played without the doubling cube.
Like other established backgammon associations, the CBA will rank players according to their performances in all of the association's backgammon matches. CBA point system will also reward players who will beat higher ranked players and those who will capture the top positions in major events with extra bonus points.
The establishing of the Chicago Backgammon Association was first thought of by local backgammon pro Carter Mattig. The initiative was supported by Phil Simborg, whose experience as a backgammon tutor met him with hundreds of people who said that they would attend backgammon tournaments with affordable prices and beginners-friendly environment.
