WSOB Team World Cup will be held simultaneously with the WSOB Cannes Main Event, starting on Wednesday and reaching its grand finale on Sunday 21:00, hours after the champion of the WSOB Cannes for 2009 will be announced. Early registration to the teams event is still open for backgammon teams of 2-4 players of the same country. At the same time, 179 players have already approved their participation at the Main Event, a significant growth comparing to the 155 who attended last year's WSOB Cannes championship event.
The Dual Discipline event of backgammon and poker was planned to take place during the WSOB Cannes 2009 under the guidance of Gus Hansen will be rescheduled and its purposed date will be announced soon. WSOB backgammon platform is also panned to be revealed during the 6-days event. The online backgammon platform will be kicked off with exclusive satellites to the WSOB next stop, the European Backgammon Championship in Prague, September 2009.

The World Series of Backgammon (WSOB) will be launching the Team World Cup, an international backgammon team event, in the upcoming opening stop of the tour's third season, scheduled to begin on Tuesday, July 21st at the Palm Beach Casino in Cannes, the French Riviera. The WSOB organizers have also announced reducing the entry fees to €1,000 (not including the €125 registration fees).
